Our Story

Each sibling had a different profession before working at Puntzan Canopy, however our family history has always united us. Our ancestors have been working the land for generations, however it was until 2010 when we realized that we found ourselves on a privileged place surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, forest and amazing nature which could serve a larger purpose.

The company was established and operated by the Palacios brothers and sisters. These siblings are in charge of the daily operations and also to provide a sustainable work place for dozens of local residents and play a large role in helping towards the tourism of the San Antonio community.

Fun facts about our story

Before Puntzan Canopy opened there were not any/many Canopy options in Banos
Business launch occurred on December 2010, coincidently the time of Tungurahua’s volcano eruption
The first month the Canopy adventure opened, we had 212 people do it.
Current road did not exist back then so construction materials had to be carried by animal loin and alternative means.
Since there was no road, adventures seekers at the time had to walk 600 meters from the bridge in order to get to us.
Staff members did not know English so it was very difficult to communicate with tourists

The maximum number of people allowed on the adventure at the same time is 12, and the minimum is 2. The duration of the adventure depends on the total number of people in your group.

Yes, every person is required to sign a waiver (known as a "Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk"). This is so each person knows exactly the level of physical activity expected on the adventure and any level of risk associated with it. We believe in full transparency: an informed tourist is a more responsible tourist.

Yes, we provide transport to our facilities and back to your accommodation anywhere in Baños. We will contact you to confirm any special transport arrangements a few days before the activity takes place.
